There’s no time for rescue cat owners to paws for thought this Christmas. With just over a month to go to the closing date of Cats Protection’s next Rescue Cat of the Year Award, it’s time to put those sad and inspiring cats’ tales to paper and submit a star entry! Supported by a host of celebrities, and seeking to honour those felines whose stories of courage, survival, fate and transformation have inspired the humans who love and care for them, Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat of the Year Award is open to cats rescued as strays by their current owner, or felines adopted from any animal welfare organisation. Cat-loving celebrities getting involved with the award this year include: author Jilly Cooper, TV vet Steve Leonard, TV meteorologist Michael Fish, astronomer Sir Patrick Moore CBE, TV presenters, Philippa Forrester and Dr Scott Miller, and actors, Anthony Head and Bill Roache. Cat owners only have until 16 January 2004 to enter their favourite rescue feline in one of the award’s six categories – Ultimate Survivor – Tales of feline survival after those nine lives have been spent. Long-Distance Traveller – Cats don’t like to travel. Or do they? Most Incredible Story – Belief-defying, true stories. If only puss could talk! Best Turn-Around – Where circumstances have turned around puss’s behaviour, health or life in general. Best Friends – Where a best furry friend has radically improved the quality of a human life. Best Personality – A special award for cats with character! Entry forms for Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat of the Year Award can be obtained in the following ways:
