Re - the site. I am still puzzled at having any clue as to which ones I have read...there doesn't seem to be any change of colour or any clue I can see??? Sometimes it seems to say Mark as unread...and sometimes Mark as read...I don't get it. I can't see any marks either way. Also I don't understand how the red cross in box works...I click on it...or click right ...but still can't find a way of opening pictures posted in this way. Is it something to do with Macs as oposed to PC's? My security settings are not high. Also it is irritating to have to remember to ask to be kept in touch BEFORE one posts. It simply isn't natural. Something I haven't done now. But I guess you can't change that. Perhaps you could post an instruction on exactly how the site works now with examples? Thanks. Julia

You've done pretty well to post as much as you have for someone who hates the way the site works! If you haven't read a post within a topic then a (new) symbol appears in blue next to the thread name. If you play around with Mark read/unread it toggles the {new) symbol on and off. Not sure I understand what you mean about the red cross. Do you mean that you *never*see any images that get posted? There some good instruction here - http://www.understandinganimals.com/forum/Themes/default/help/index.english.htmlJay

Have you tried this?? It worked for me: 1) Save your picture somewhere on your computer and remember where it is saved. 2) Open up a new internet explorer window and type in www.tinypic.com. 3) Click on browse. 4) Find the picture that you have saved, click on it and click open. 5) You will be back at the tinypic website and be able to see that the link to your picture is now in the dialogue box. 6) Click on 'host it.' 7) It will say 'successfully hosted.' There are 4 options at the bottom - Link, Tag, Img and Url. 9) Copy the whole of the Img bit. 10) Paste it into your message. 11) Click on 'preview', which is at the bottom next to 'post,' to check that it works and then post it Wait - I just realized that was to put a picture in your reply - I know there is a way - Someone help!!!

Just do a search on posting pics and you'll find earlier posts that covered this...You'll need to upload your pictures to a photo site like photobucket, flickr, etc...

Hi, I wish I could help your kitti, but I use imageshack, my young son showed me how to do it, but I'm no good at explaining it, which is why I've referred you to the how to post pic info on here.
Perhaps someone on here will be able to explain, I know that quite a lot of us have trouble posting pics on here at first, but most eventually sort it out.
Good luck and see you around the boards.

When using photobucket, it show various types of links under the thumbnail of the photo. If you are wanting to add the pic to your profile you need to copy and paste the 'direct link' into the 'I have my own pic' section (the direct link will always start with http://). If however you want to use the pics in a signature you'll need to use the IMG code and copy/paste into the signatures section.
Its just a case of using the right link in each section. Hope that helps.
Chris
