It's only been a little over a week and I still miss him terribly. When I go upstairs I expect to see him on my bed or when I look out into the garden to see him rolling on the grass but I can't believe the relief just having his ashes home has given me. He's home now and will stay with me where he belongs!!!

I've been feeling very upset since one of my cats died last week. 2 of the others have been a lot more cuddly and my female, my first, Gypsy, comes into the bedroom when she knows I've been a wake at 4am feeling sad and she jumps on my chest and very gently licks my arm. She is a licker and a nibbler but over the last week or so she's been a lot more gentle and when I've been dozing back off she's gently and very slowly crept to the side of me an lain there the rest of the night.

I think it depends on how long you've had the cat and how much interaction you have but I'm sure they definitely pick up on our feelings and emotions.

Tramp has the most horrendous dandruff and he tends to get matted clumps at the base of his tail. I've been brushing him and last night got a large tennis ball amount of fur out of him and this afternoon a golf ball plus the matted bits (finally) but his dandruff is awful .... any ideas?

Thank you Chris for helping me make the decision about going to see him at the vets to say goodbye and let him know I hadn't abandoned him. I was also able to clear up my own doubts about if I could've acted sooner! xx

Looks like there was something going on then and it seems that it might've got worse :-(

Hi

Which branch of Cats Protection did you get him from? Do you know anything about his history before they got him?

Feliway can be great for de-stressing cats though it doesn't work for all of them.

Let us know how he comes along. He may just need a bit more time to settle.

Hi and welcome.

I agree with Christina, please, please, please don't even contemplate declawing!!! It's a totally barbaric procedure and incredibly damaging both physically and emotionally.

I have 5 cats and only one of them has used the furniture as a scratch post and she does it purely for attention. All my other cats were strays and they tend to use the tree outside to sharpen their claws.

Chris mentioned Soft Claws and I found a couple,of links for you.

http://www.spuk.com/products.asp?cat=1

I hope this helps!

I finally got him. I was shaking like a leaf but he's now safe and sound at the vet. Tomorrow he will get his very sore looking foot sorted out and his dangly bits removed :-)

Does he attack your husband too?

The way you say he launches an attack and then runs away makes me think that he thinks he's playing. My female does this but she's just being playful, may not be this with your cat though and you are obviously stressed by the situation.

Do you think he finds you threatening in any way?

Where do you live?

Sorry this must feel like your being inundated with questions!

Does he go outside or is he an indoor cat?

It does sound like he needs to have more interaction with you. Have you tried Feliway to try and soothe him a bit?

I've got a trap in my garden now and I've got ot put his food inside it, gradually moving it further and further back. There's a door on the front that flaps down and it's got a long string that has to be sharply pulled to trap him. The string will have to go through the kitchen window so he doesn't see what's going on. He seems quite comfortable eating his food at the moment so, my question is, do I try and do it myself tomorrow morning and risk buggering it up or do I wait for the expert??

The problem is that I take James to work in the morning and the cat is usually here when I get back at around 9.15. Then I feed him. So do I try and do this myself or do I ask the lady to come and leave her in the house (it's not a trust thing, I do totally trust her). Or I suppose I could ask James and his friend to find another mode of transport for one day ...... oh the decisions :-/
